Full care guidance

Our pieces are made by hand to be worn and enjoyed. With a little care they will keep their character for years. Here is how to look after them, honestly.

Everyday wear

Put your piece on last, after fragrance, hairspray and lotion, and take it off first. Perfume, sweat and cosmetics are the quickest way to dull beadwork and wear plating. Avoid wearing pieces in water — swimming, showering and washing up all shorten their life.

Storing your piece

Keep each piece flat, dry and separate from others so beads and chains do not rub or tangle. A soft pouch or a lined box is ideal. Cotton wool and open air help; sealed plastic and damp do not.

Cleaning

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Do not use jewellery dips, silver polish or ultrasonic cleaners on beadwork — they can loosen thread and strip finishes. If a piece needs more than a wipe, ask us first.

Thread and restringing

Beadwork is held together by thread, and thread relaxes with time and wear. This is normal. If a strand feels loose or a bead sits oddly, stop wearing it and get in touch — a timely restring is simple, while a broken thread is not.

Plating and metal

Plated findings are a surface, and surfaces wear. Gentle handling and dry storage slow this down, but some softening of colour over years is part of a handmade object's life, not a fault.

Natural materials

Stones, shell, wood and natural fibres each age in their own way and may shift slightly in colour with light and time. We choose them because they are real, and being real is part of the point.

Repairs

We would always rather mend a piece than see it retired. For restringing, a lost bead, or a clasp that needs attention, contact us — tell us what has happened and send a photo, and we will let you know what we can do.
